Hundreds of people who rallied in Mott Haven to protest police brutality following the death of George Floyd are set to receive financial compensation.
There were approximately 320 nonviolent protesters who took part in June 2020 that are now set to receive awards of over $20,000 each.
A federal court has found that New York City must pay millions to the protestors who were subject to force from NYPD officers.
Under the class action terms, each eligible member will be awarded at least $21,500.
The city will also pay out more than $2.5 million in attorney fees.
