Some parents and teachers at M.S. 113 say they didn't get the memo that classes had been canceled over swine flu concerns.
Dozens of students showed up for school Friday, unaware that it was closed. The Department of Health shut M.S. 113 down after at least 18 students came down with high fevers and flu-like symptoms.
Some parents informed of the closure thought it was a joke or excuse from their kids to get an extra-long holiday weekend.
"I just came to see if it's closed for real," says parent Dwight Teape. "I wanted to make sure my daughter didn't just want to play hooky."
