Crown Heights residents say they are fed up with rats running rampant in their playground, and they want the city to take action.

Janay Futrell is one of many people who expressed concern of rats ruining their ability - and their kid's ability - to enjoy the South Pacific playground.

When News 12 was on the scene crews witnessed rats roaming around the playground in broad daylight.

Futrell and other parents say they've submitted multiple 311 complaints but have not gotten any response from the city.

311 data shows dozens rat complaints have been filed within a two-block radius of the park.

The most recent being just two days ago.

"They don't care and they're not going to care until something extreme happens." said Futrell.

People in this Crown Heights neighborhood say they feel neglected.

News 12 reached out to the Parks and Health departments.

The Parks Department responded saying its staff cleans the park multiple times a week and exterminates it at least once a week. It says cleanliness is its top priority but asks that visitors help keep the park clean as well.
