Parents and community members rallied to make their voices heard after they say a decision was made to replace District 16's school superintendent without the community's input.

The rally was held Monday at Restoration Plaza to demand transparency and partnership with the schools and the community.

"Our math and reading scores are higher now than when he first took office," said Marlon Rice, the director of event services at Bed-Stuy Restoration Corp.

The DOE shared a statement with News 12 that says, "the superintendency is an appointed position, and an at-will hire. NYCPS follows Chancellor's Regulation c-37, which outlines the eligibility criteria and application process, including consultation with the district's community education council."
