Parents in Sunset Park are calling on officials to fix overcrowding by building more schools and less hotels.
Local leaders joined parents and students outside the site of Sunny 39 Hotel, a place they say is not where they want their children walking past. Investigators say the hotel is currently closed, but last week they busted an alleged prostitution ring. That's one reason why parents want zoning in the area changed and don't want to see more hotels.
Parents want the Department of Education to look into using the Sunny 39 Hotel site to add another school. They say schools in Sunset Park are overcrowded and something needs to be done.
Parents say they will continue to fight until the quality of life is improved.
