A couple is seeking $5 million in damages after they say their daughter was forced to change her wedding venue due to restrictions they were not informed of.
Marjorie and Russel Newman say their daughter planned to have her wedding at the 1 Hotel in Brooklyn last September. However, they claim that certain sound restrictions that weren't disclosed forced them to immediately change the venue to a nearby, smaller location and leave out several guests.
The parents are looking to take to court the hotel as well as wedding planner Guerdy Abraira, who has appeared on the television show "The Real Housewives Of Miami." They are seeking $5 million in damages after spending an undisclosed amount on the wedding.
Their attorney Sanford Rubenstein called all the defendants' acts egregious.
“To turn a beautiful dream into a nightmare and spoil one of the most important days in a girl's life, a wedding day, is, in my opinion, is an example of corporate greed at its worst,” Rubenstein said.
News 12 has reached out to the hotel and Abraira for comment and is waiting to hear back.
