Park Slope resident says he is not concerned with section of street caving in

A section of 17th Street in Park Slope is caving in, with a report of sinkhole called into the FDNY around noon Friday.
Park Slope resident Michael Bubb said he was informed by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that his water would be shut off for eight hours.
“They said they’re going to shut it off at 4 p.m.,” Bubb said.
Bubb said he first noticed cracks in the road five days ago. He called the issue in to 311, and according to city records, the Department of Transportation (DOT) requested DEP to address the problem.
“There was a crack in the road, a little depression in the roadway,” Bubb said. “So I called it in, and they just got out here today.”
While workers from the DEP were on-site for hours Friday, Bubb said he is not overly concerned.
“Do you have any concerns seeing it?” Bubbs was asked. “No, I think I’ll be fine. I don’t think my house is going to sink into it, so it’ll be fine,” he replied.
As of now, no evacuations have been ordered.
News 12 reached out to DEP for more information and have yet to hear back.
