A parking meter rate increase is set to hit the borough by September, city officials say.

It's the first rate increase in the city since 2013, and it could cost commuters an extra $2 hourly instead of the current 25 cents for every 15 minutes.

The rates will be split into zones.

Zone One is comprised of Downtown Brooklyn, Dumbo Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope.

Zone Two includes Bay Ridge, Fort Greene and Greenpoint where rates will jump to $1.50 an hour.

Brooklyn is the first of the five boroughs seeing the impact.

The meter rate hike goes into effect in Brooklyn starting Sept. 4.

The rest of the five boroughs will have their new in rates in place by the end of the year.
