Changes are on the way that could make getting into Prospect Park easier.
The Parks Department says the new entrance along Flatbush Avenue will be the first new entrance to the park in 70 years.
The NYC Parks commissioner, the Prospect Parks Alliance president and other elected officials joined people form the neighborhood Thursday to officially break ground on the new entrance.
Funding for the $3.2 million project comes from the Park Without Borders Initiative. The new entrance will be located near the northeast section of the park and will feature new landscaping, lighting, trees and stepping stones to a running trail, as well as a small public plaza.
The new entrance is part of an effort to clean up the Flatbush Avenue side of Prospect Park.
Officials aim to be finished with the new entrance by next summer.
