Part of the Slave Theater on Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy collapsed last night, giving a few folks quite a scare. The theater was holding a reggae party at the time of the collapse.
Emergency crew officials say that four people were hurt in the collapse, two of whom were taken to St. John's Hospital with minor injuries.
The building has been on the Department of Building's radar for quite some time. Since 1991, the theater has racked up more than 27 building code violations. Several complaints stated the building had hazardous conditions due to rotting sheet metal and walls.
The Department of Buildings said the theaters doors will remain closed after last night until the unsafe conditions are addressed.
