Gov. David Paterson denied Thursday a request for now to order a special prosecutor in the shooting death of NYPD Detective Omar Edwards.
Edwards' mother and Paterson met at the governor's Manhattan office Thursday a week after a grand jury failed to indict the New York police officer who shot and killed Edwards.
Paterson says he'll have to research whether there's a precedent for ordering a special prosecutor in a case where a grand jury previously ruled.
