A pilot program is working to give Bronx high school students a leg up on college at graduation.
The Bronx Achievement Pact will offer Truman High School students 30 hours of transferable college credits during the regular school day starting this September. Students will also have the option of completing an additional 30 credits during summer weekends and school breaks to earn their associate's degree .
Officials say the goal is to expand the Mercy College partnership each year until all Bronx high schools with a graduation rate below 70 percent can join the pact.
