Several plans are on the table for the Kingsbridge Armory, which has laid vacant for years at the corner of Kingsbridge and Jerome avenues. One of the city's proposals is to turn the 180,000-square foot facility into an ice sports center. The plan calls for nine indoor ice skating rinks including NHL-regulation and international rinks. There would also be 5,000 seats for spectators. Under the proposal, the facility would also host hockey matches, skating competitions and ice shows.Supporters say the Kingsbridge National Ice Center would be one of the largest ice sports centers of its kind in the world, attracting more than three million visitors a year to the Bronx.
