A crash in Cypress Hills Wednesday morning injured killed one person and injured another.
Police say the call came in around 5:08 a.m. to a crash at Atlantic and Georgia avenues for a minivan that hit a parked truck.
Officials say the male passenger was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle, who police say is 31 years old, was also sent to the hospital in stable condition. Officials say he is now in police custody.
Police say the car was traveling at a high speed on Atlantic Avenue when it crashed into a construction vehicle.
The exact moment of impact was caught on surveillance video, showing people rushing over to help just moments later.
Ricardo Alas was working across the street at the time of the deadly crash.
"All I heard was a loud bang and then I saw an ugly crash and then you couldn't see anything and then the police, firefighters, an ambulance arrived and they took that person in an ambulance," says Alas.
Police photographed an open and nearly empty bottle of Hennessy on the back seat of the minivan.
Police tell News 12 they are still working to figure out if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
