One man is dead and 11 others are injured following a shooting at a Brownsville park late Saturday evening.
Police say an event, Old Timers Day, was being held at the Brownsville Recreation Center when bullets were shot into the crowd at around 11 p.m.
Police say a 38-year-old man was shot in the head and died from his injuries. Officials say at least six people have been released from local hospitals, and one is in critical condition.
Police say a gun was found but no arrests have been made so far. The NYPD says they're searching for two shooters.
They ask anyone who went to the event Saturday night to share with police photos and videos that could help in the investigation.
Officials say they're investigating what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting and the possibility that the incident was the result of a gang dispute.
Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke out Sunday against the violence and was joined by several people who were at the event. One person was hit by bullet fragments that EMS told her were stopped by her bra.
Police Commissioner James O'Neill also joined de Blasio.
O'Neill says this violence will never be tolerated and the NYPD is working hard to find out who did this.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
