A driver is now in custody and facing several charges for a deadly hit-and-run in East New York Tuesday.
Police say 43-year-old Rodney Mondesir faces numerous charges, including leaving the scene.
Police say a 51-year-old man was crossing southbound across Linden Boulevard at the intersection of Barbey Street when he was struck by a Jeep heading westbound just before midnight.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police tell News 12 that Mondesir’s 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was recovered about two blocks away on Jerome Street and McClancy Place.
News 12 is told the victim lived in the area, but his name is not being released until all his family has been notified.
Officials say there is no designated crosswalk in the area where the victim was hit.
