The NYPD says a 16-year-old cyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Ditmas Avenue and Coney Island Avenue in Kensington.
Police say the incident happened just before 2 p.m.
News 12 obtained exclusive surveillance video of the incident.
Authorities also say a 15-year-old teen was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and is in stable condition.
News 12 spoke to the manager of the pharmacy on the corner of the intersection about what he saw.
“And when they tried to take a right turn, they are very fast and the kids were not maintaining their balance so when the driver turned to the right side," Mohammad Adeel Khan, pharmacy manager. "They crossed the tire [tire ran over kid] for the one kid and then he fell down."
Local residents say e-bike drivers need to drive more responsibly.
“Many people almost get crashed into by an e-driver, and some people get hurt by them, it’s just sad," a Kensington resident told News 12.
The third teen involved told News 12 off camera the e-bike was supposed to accommodate two riders at most.
City data shows that the intersection of those two avenues has seen six traffic injuries this year so far. In 2023, it saw 10 traffic-related injuries.
