Gunfire in two separate instances just a mile apart resulted in fatalities Friday night into Saturday morning.
At the corner of Mother Gaston Boulevard and McDougal Street, a 34-year-old male was shot twice in the torso and later pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.
Police say they have three people in custody.
Nearby, at 1856 Park Place, police say a 27-year-old man was shot in the torso around 1:45 a.m. He was also taken to Brookdale and died from his injuries.
Police say no arrests have been made in the second case, but it is unclear if there is a tie between the two.
