Police say there have been a string of pellet gun shootings across Long Island that could be linked to a social media challenge.
A dark-colored car approached two people walking down the street in in Levittown on Monday at around 12:30 p.m.
Nassau police say the car rolled down its window and fired at them before fleeing.
On the same day, two similar pellet gun shootings were reported in Suffolk County. One of those cases involved a 12-year-old girl struck in the eye at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park. She was taken to the hospital.
Another person was shot at from a car on Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon.
Police say they are investigating four similar incidents in Nassau County, and that they could be linked to a TikTok challenge involving pellet gun shootings.
"It's really scary to think about that," says Levittown resident Mike Arnone. "That you could just be walking in the middle of the day not doing anything and someone will attack you like that."
No arrests have been made in any of the incidents.
Police say they are working to determine if the pellet gun shooting in Levittown is connected to the ones in Deer Park and North Babylon.
