The NYPD says a shooting in Brownsville on Thursday afternoon has left one person dead.
Police say that a 31-year-old man died in a shooting in front of a deli at the intersection of Sutter Avenue and Junius Street.
The intersection sees foot traffic, as it is located between the train station and the Van Dyke Houses. Some of the residents say the corner has been a hotspot for criminal activity before.
“It happens all the time that I’m so numb to it,” said Timothy Little, of Brownsville. “It's sad that it could be so regular like this.”
Police say the victim was shot just before 2 p.m. before being rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. They say two men were seen fleeing the scene, but no arrests have been made at this time.
