Police: 69-year-old pedestrian fatally struck in Blue Point

The driver, their passenger and the two pedestrians were unharmed.

A 69-year-old man was fatally struck Saturday night while crossing Sunrise Highway in Blue Point, according to police.
Authorities say the driver tried to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting three pedestrians around 8:30 p.m. near the Waverly Avenue exit.
Carlos Villafane was killed at the scene. The driver, their passenger and the two pedestrians were unharmed.
Police say no arrests were made.
