The first suspect taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of an officer yesterday is waiting arraignment, and police say it's not the first time he's been arrested.
Authorities say 27-year-old Lamont Pride pulled the trigger that killed 22-year NYPD veteran and father of four Peter Figoski in Cypress Hills. Criminal records show Pride is also wanted for a shooting in North Carolina.
According to the Brooklyn district attorney's office, Pride was arrested twice in New York since September. Officials say he was arrested Nov. 4 in East New York for drug possession, but a judge decided to release him on Nov. 22 without bail because there were no extradition orders on the outstanding warrant.
Pride is now being held without bail after an appearance at the Brooklyn Criminal Court tonight. His next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16.
