Police say an arrest has been made following allegations that a 15-year-old Brooklyn student was assaulted by an instructor.
News 12 previously reported that Jeremiah Wilson, of Thomas Jefferson High School in East New York, claimed he was assaulted by his FDNY instructor.
Police say 30-year-old Anthony Gadison was arrested and is facing assault and misdemeanor charges.
Wilson's mother, Danetta Mcclean, says her son's hair was pulled and he was kneed in the chest.
She says the incident happened shortly after Wilson underwent open-heart surgery.
Mcclean says the school was aware of Jeremiah's past medical history and says she was not notified that he was injured at the time of the incident.
She says the incident gives him yet another obstacle to overcome.
“It reset him back, to where the fluid built back up and caused pain and aches in the body, redness to the skin - and I had to re-heal my child again," said Mcclean.
Wilson saying the arrest gave him some peace of mind.
“I feel better. He can’t do nothing to me or nobody else,” said Wilson.
Mcclean says her son deserves justice and that she doesn't want to see this happen to another child. News 12 spoke with attorney Rikki Davidoff.
"He was assaulted by someone that he trusted, and the school trusted, and the FDNY trusted. That’s incredible to me. How can an adult put their hands on a kid and think they’re going to get away with it?" said Davidoff.
Davidoff says they are currently filing a notice of claim, the first steps toward a lawsuit.
