Officials say they need the public’s help in finding a man on the loose after an attempted rape Monday night in Prospect Park.
They say a 27-year-old woman was walking near the Dog Beach section of the park when a man approached her from behind and lifted her skirt. The man then attempted to pull her underwear down and pushed her to the ground, authorities say. He then ran away, and police are still searching to find him.
Investigators say that victim suffered minor cuts on her knees but refused medical attention.
"It's so dimly lit, if you were to ever go down here, there's no lights whatsoever,” said parkgoer Juan Garcia. “It's pitch black. It's terrifying. I have family here. My wife, my sister, her kids. I can't even bear to hear that."
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
