The Police Benevolent Association says 11 newly proposed City Council NYPD reform bills are dangerous to New Yorkers.
The legislation package comes after Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s executive order in June calling on the city to reform the police.
They include removing the police commissioner’s final disciplinary authority and ending qualified immunity.
"We don’t need more reform, we need help...Our cops on the street corners warned us that it was happening. We warned the politicians that this won’t work, violence will rise, and it has,” said NYC PBA President Patrick Lynch.
The proposed reforms will be voted on this month to meet the governor’s April 1 deadline for a new plan to be adopted.
