Police in the Bronx say safety against terrorists is their first priority as temples and synagogues plan to celebrate upcoming holy holidays.
Security measures were taken when a terror plot against three synagogues surfaced in the Bronx last April had many in the Jewish community in fear. NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly says security will be revved up for the upcoming holidays. ?We are distributing among our commanding officers a briefing on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur and we will be putting in place additional security measures.?
Since the plot was foiled by authorities last spring, worshippers have been praising the NYPD for its work in protecting the synagogues and temples.
