Police are searching for a man they say is linked to stabbing a bus driver during the weekend in East New York.

According to the NYPD, the suspect began arguing with the driver on the B99 bus as it traveled near Pitkin and Alabama avenues at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Moments later, police say he stabbed the driver in the neck with a sharp object and hopped off.

Authorities say 60-year-old driver Isaac Egharevba said he first thought he had been punched only to then realize he was bleeding profusely from the neck. He was rushed to the hospital and is now recovering.

"The safety of our drivers is non-negotiable. This violent attack on one of our own is an attack on us all. We will not rest until the assailant is brought to justice," says Richard Davis, president of TWU Local 100.
