A group has filed an official complaint to the New York Police Department claiming one its captains practiced racial profiling.A group called 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care filed the complaint against Captain Michael Vanchieri. They say he specifically ordered transit officers to stop and search all black males. The group, along with Councilman Charles Barron (D-NY), are calling for the City Council to hold immediate hearings on the claims and NYPD policies. They say these orders from an NYPD officer are a violation to constitutional, civil and human rights.100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care say they filed the complaint in an effort to show racial profiling still exists. Vanchieri denies the allegations.
