Police say they are investigating the 2018 death of a 6-month-old in a Bed-Stuy apartment as a homicide due to findings made by the Medical Examiner's Office.
The city Medical Examiner's Office has now concluded the infant, Gianni Gilmore, suffered abusive head trauma.
Gianni's grandmother Jacqueline Saintangle says the baby was being watched by his father, Shatwaun Gilmore, 24, who was initially questioned and charged at the 79th Precinct for assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Those charges were later voided.
Saintangle says she stepped out to drop off her time sheet that day, and when she returned home her grandson was unresponsive. She tearfully tells News 12 that she will continue to hold on to her grandson's clothing as a reminder for herself and family to keep fighting for answers for Gianni.
Police say that no arrests have been made in the case.
