Police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old boy in Wakefield today as a possible homicide.
Officials say they responded to a call at 667 East 232nd St. at around 11:30 a.m. to find the boy, identified as Richard Flood, unconscious on the floor. Flood was transported to Montefiore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they are questioning Flood's mother and her boyfriend in connection with the death.
Neighbors say they aren't surprised foul play is suspected. They say they often hear fighting emanating from the apartment.
Officials say they are awaiting a report from the medical examiner on how the baby died.
