Police determine woman found dead in Bed-Stuy was victim of a homicide

The death of a 28-year-old woman found inside her Bed-Stuy apartment is now being investigated as a homicide.
Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Kelly Kwak. They found her body at her Gates Avenue apartment on Friday morning.
One resident at the address told News 12 that it is a support home, and that the death came as a big shock to him. He didn’t know Kwak personally but says he saw her with someone often and that there weren’t obvious signs of danger.
“If you saw them, it was like they just got married,” said Winston Pineda, a tenant at the Gates Avenue building.
Kwak was found with trauma to the body, according to law enforcement. Investigators say a 32-year-old man was taken from the apartment to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull for treatment and evaluation, though at this time there is no indication as to whether he is a suspect in Kwak’s death.
