Police: East Islip woman stole $400,000 from 2 Nassau County churches

An East Islip woman has been arrested for stealing nearly half a million dollars from two Nassau County churches.

An East Islip woman has been arrested for stealing nearly half a million dollars from two Nassau County churches.
Police say Iris Gomez was working as an office administrator at St. William the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in Seaford and the Diocese of Rockville Centre between August 2019 and January of this year.
News 12 is told Gomez was creating fraudulent invoices for her consulting company with $400,000 from both churches.
Gomez is due back in court next month.
