The mother states that a hospital worker came into her hospital room without permission and entered the bathroom, pushed her against the wall and raped her, according to police.
The husband of the victim says her son, who is 2 years old, has been in the hospital for over a month and that they’ve been trying to get him transferred to St. Jude's Hospital.
Police say the woman is 22 years old. They say the incident happened on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. and was reported on Nov. 9.
The hospital worker in custody is identified as 36-year-old Trevor Nelson. Police say he was arrested on charges of rape and sexual abuse in the third-degree.
A spokesperson from the hospital tells News 12 in a statement, “Upon learning of this incident, Cohen Children’s Medical Center took immediate action and is cooperating with local law enforcement. The employee in question has been suspended pending further investigation.”
