Three Metropolitan Transportation Authority employees narrowly escaped a hail of gunfire from an angry customer who refused to pay bus fare Tuesday, police say.
Police say the incident started after the suspect boarded the bus without paying at around 6:21 a.m. The MTA employees asked him to exit the bus. After the bus left, officials say he pulled out a gun and shot at the employees. The bullets hit the trees and grass surrounding the bus stop, but no one was struck by gunfire.
No passengers, neighbors or MTA employees were hurt during the gunfire. The B82 bus stop along Flatlands and Louisiana avenues is now open for riders after a brief halt to service.
The whereabouts of the suspect are currently unknown.
