Police say two men are dead after one jumped off a 12-story building in an apparent suicide and struck another in Yonkers Monday evening.
Authorities say a distraught 25-year-old man jumped off the Cromwell Towers apartment complex at 77 Locust Hill Ave. and fell 12 stories onto the parking garage roof below— striking a 61-year-old Bronx man around 6 p.m.
Both men died at the scene. Their identities have not been released yet.
"It's just a tragic set of circumstances. In this case, it's not one life that was taken but two. Both families are greatly distraught and impacted by what happened here,” says Detective Lt. Dean Politopoulos.
Police are still investigating what led the young man to jump. They are speaking with both families, interviewing witnesses, and checking surveillance video as part of the investigation. They say the Bronx man was visiting someone at the complex.
