Police: Man responsible for deadly hammer attack in Sunset Park arraigned

Liyong Ye is held without bail and is due back in court on Nov. 8. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.

The man police arrested in connection to a hammer attack against a woman and her two children in Sunset Park has been arraigned.
Police say Liyong Ye has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder for the alleged attack.
According to authorities, Ye hit Zhao Zhao, 43, in the head and also struck her 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. The mother was brought to the hospital but did not survive. Her two children suffered critical injuries, but are now recovering.
Ye is held without bail and is due back in court on Nov. 8. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
