Police are searching for the man they say knocked over a statue inside a church in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.
Police tell News 12 they are looking into this as a possible hate crime.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the man they are searching for in connection to the possible hate crime.
They say the incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 12 around 8:45 a.m. inside St. Francis of Assisi-St. Blaise Parish.
Pastor Paul Jarvis tells News 12 Jan. 12 was a typical morning at the church, until the man came storming in.

"He took the potted plant and just threw it into the pews and he just stormed out I think he was cursing and yelling and screaming. He stormed out he picked up the statue, stormed out and broke it,” says Pastor Paul.

The statue of St. Jude was shattered.

Pastor Paul says it's now out for repair, but it's not the statue he's worried about.

"The statue can be restored, and we are planning to have the statue restored, but I am more concerned about the state of the man’s health. Even if he is hateful, I pray," says Pastor Paul.

The NYPD says the Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating as well.

Police say no one was hurt during the incident.

However, because of what happened the pastor says he is looking into installing security cameras inside the church.
