Police say a fight over a student just steps away from P.S. 188 in Coney Island led to two men being hospitalized Wednesday afternoon.
They say two men showed up to the school to pick up the same girl at 2:30 p.m. One is her biological father and the other is her mother's current boyfriend.
Investigators say the 28-year-old biological father was slashed in the face, and the mother's 29-year-old boyfriend was bruised in the face and slashed in the back. The father then allegedly grabbed the girl, who was sitting in the car, and ran to the school for help.
Students and parents say the fight happened around the same time the children are dismissed.
News 12 is told some students saw the slashing when it happened, which caused panic. Officials say the students were unharmed.
Police say the men were taken to different hospitals and are expected to survive. They are in custody but police say no charges have been filed so far.
