Police say a man was stabbed multiple times by a female while riding his bike in Bed-Stuy early Thursday morning.

Police say it happened around 3 a.m. at the Roosevelt NYCHA houses on Lewis and Dekalb avenues.

They say the 57-year-old man was riding his bike when the unidentified female went up to him and stabbed him multiple times around his body.

Police say he was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

People in the area like Jasseline Pena say there are schools and lots of children in the area.

"I couldn't believe it I was in shock actually. There's children everywhere so it is concerning that there would be a stabbing around here," said Pena.

It's unclear what, if anything, led up to the stabbing and if there is any relation between the man and woman.

Police say the perpetrator was described as having a light complexion and brown hair.
