Police say a Brooklyn man stole an officer's car and crashed it into other vehicles on Long Island.
They say Andrew Howard already had warrants out for his arrest when officers pulled him over.
Howard was handcuffed and put into the back seat of the police car. Officers say when they went to speak with the two other passengers in his car, Howard got out of his handcuffs.
He then made his way to the driver's seat of that police car and sped away from the scene.
Police were able to catch Howard, and he was taken to a hospital with an unrelated medical condition.
The two other passengers in the car were arrested after police found a knife in that car.
