Police say a 3-year-old Brownsville girl is clinging to life after her mother?s boyfriend beat her.

Eleacha Oliver Ragoo was brought to the hospital last weekend with severe brain damage after allegedly being shaken and beaten by 24-year-old Anthony Merritt. She was placed on life support shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police say Merritt was babysitting the girl when he became annoyed after she spat up some yogurt. They say he shook and then put Ragoo in a bathtub, where she allegedly hit her head.

Merritt faces charges including assault to a child and reckless endangerment.
