Police say a Flatlands father's leg was severed Tuesday when a livery cab swerving to avoid another car hit him.
Gary Louis, 30, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition while his girlfriend and 2-year-old son, who were with him, were not seriously hurt.
"A vehicle was reversing out and another taxi cab was coming down not noticing that ? neighbors were taking their daughter out of the vehicle, and just slammed right into them," says Yvonne Gabb, a neighbor of Louis.
The livery cab driver is not expected to face charges.
