Police say a Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker jumped into action saving a man who was punched onto the train tracks in Brooklyn.

According to police, a 54-year-old man was punched in the back of the head at the 25th southbound station. An MTA worker helped the man up and out of the tracks.

The NYPD has identified the suspect as 27-year-old Charles Williams, a Bronx resident. Law enforcement officials say that he faces charges of reckless endangerment and assault, and that he remains in police custody. 

Williams was arrested a few stops later at 36 Street station on a northbound R train shortly after the attack. 

Police told News 12 that Williams was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at a hospital following his arrest.
