Police confirm that a shooting took place Monday afternoon in the Village of Hempstead.
It happened at 12 p.m. at Stewart Avenue and Dartmouth Street.
A vehicle that appeared to have bullet holes was found near the scene and was being towed by Nassau County police.
There was also a heavy police presence at Fulton and Maryland avenues.
A little after 7 p.m., what appeared to a covered-up body was wheeled out on a stretcher near a home on Maryland Avenue. The Nassau County Homicide Squad were also on the scene.
Police have only confirmed that there was a shooting in the area.
