Police have released a sketch of the gunman who they say shot an NYPD officer in Manhattan early this morning.
Police say the suspect opened fire on officer Brian Groves while being chased in the stairwell of a housing project on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Groves is recovering at Bellevue Hospital. Authorities say he was saved by his bulletproof vest.
