The NYPD have released new surveillance video showing the person they believe shot New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd early Sunday morning in Midtown.
The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. outside Sai Less, a restaurant on West 38th St. near Seventh Avenue. Investigators say Boyd, 29, was shot in the abdomen and rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in
critical condition.
The newly released video shows the person police are looking for wearing a black hat. In one of the clips, the individual is seen briefly running in the street right after the shooting. Detectives are urging anyone who recognizes the person to come forward.
Investigators spent hours at the scene overnight, with a large police presence marking shell casings and collecting evidence along the block.
A police source confirms a blue BMW was seen leaving the scene after the shooting.
People in the area said they’re shaken by the violence.
“It’s getting scary — last time we were here there was a shooter too,” said Carmen Kitts, who was shopping nearby. “Something has to be done.”
Another man named Vince told News 12, “A young man is fighting for his life over something that certainly wasn’t worth that.”
Boyd, who signed with the Jets this year, has not played this season after suffering a shoulder injury during training camp that put him on season-ending injured reserve.
Police are asking anyone with information or anyone who recognizes the person in the black hat to contact them immediately.
The investigation is ongoing.
