One person is dead and 11 others are injured following a shooting at a Brownsville playground over the weekend.
Police tell News 12 they are searching for at least two people in connection to the deadly shooting.
It happened Saturday night in the midst of celebrations for the Old-Timers Day event in Brownsville, which community leaders tell News 12 is to bring people together. The police commissioner says between 2,000 to 3,000 people were at the event with more than 100 officers there.
A total of 12 people were shot, including 38-year-old Jason Pagan who was fatally shot.
News 12 is told six people have already been released from the hospital.
Bishop Willie Billips, a member of the NYPD Clergy Task Force, rushed to the hospital as he has so many times before, but says this time was different.
"I've been to the hospital the last 15-20 years working with families and there was so much blood in that hospital that night. It was complete chaos, I've never seen so much pain in there," says Bishop Billips.
Elected officials and activists came together Sunday to express their outrage but also to send support to victims, and fight to end gun violence.
One gun was recovered at the scene, but police say they believe two weapons were fired and believe this may have been gang-related.
Officials are asking anyone who shot video or has photos from before or after the shooting to contact police.
