A 30-year-old man was shot on a busy Crown Heights block late Tuesday morning, and police say the shooter is still on the loose.
Investigators spent hours collecting evidence on Lincoln Place near Schenectady Avenue, photographing the scene and bagging a bullet and a shoe left behind.
Police said the victim was shot in the torso shortly before 11 a.m. and taken to Kings County Hospital. He is expected to survive.
The shooting forced part of the block to close for several hours, turning away customers from nearby businesses and disrupting deliveries.
“You can hardly just walk out your house, you know what I’m saying, without getting robbed. People shooting each other,” said neighbor Rita Watkins.
Hours later, crime scene tape came down and activity resumed, but residents said the daytime violence was unsettling.
“It makes me a little nervous sometimes — at night, not much really happens, but in the daytime, you know, I’m surprised really,” said neighbor Matthew Digiovanna.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
