Police: Stalking allegation in Williamsburg was a misunderstanding
Police say they are no longer looking for a man accused of following a young girl home from school in Williamsburg, calling it a misunderstanding.
They had released surveillance video in the case after an 11-year-old girl told police that the man followed her for five blocks Monday afternoon on South Ninth Street.
Police say they are no longer looking for that man. They say he has Down syndrome, and the investigation found he was not stalking the girl.
His family told police he likes to run around the neighborhood.
