There’s a chilling stain at the bottom of the closet next to the front door in Apartment 19A on 31st Street in Kips Bay.  The building’s super, Jean Pompee, says that’s where 52-year-old Nadia Vitel’s body was found in a duffle bag last Thursday.
Police say last week she arrived to clean out the apartment that belonged to her mother who recently died.  Police say she was met by two squatters who had taken over the apartment – and they suspect they killed her with blunt force trauma to the head.  Pompee was there when the body was found.
“He asked one of the firemen if he could open the bag, and he unzipped it and he acknowledged that there was a body in there and he called the police,” Pompee told News 12 New York.
Police also say an autopsy shows that Vitel suffered fractures to her face, broken ribs and a brain bleed. Police are looking for a male and female who they say they were seen fleeing the scene in Vital’s vehicle. That vehicle was then spotted in Pennsylvania.
